MacDougall Meadows is owned and operated by Jake MacDougall. Bruce works with Jake in the market garden. At Macdougall Meadows, they believe that it is important to have good quality local food. They have pasture raised chicken, pork and eggs. They also have a small market garden for fresh, in season produce. They sell their products at markets in Windsor and Halifax.
Shopping local is important to Bruce because it keeps the supply chain short and robust and it doesn’t get interrupted by international events. It keeps the money in the community and boosts the rural economy in Nova Scotia.
Fun Fact: Their chicken is known for tasting like chicken from Europe!
